The feature film Wanted, stars Angelina Jolie and James McAvoy as assassins who belong to a mysterious and deadly secret society of assassins. In the film the main character, Wesley, goes from super geek to super assassin in order to save the society. Or so he thinks! Instead of following the movie, the game picks up where the movie left off. Wesley, on a mission to discover the truth about his mother, has to assassinate hordes of people on his quest for the truth. This makes him a prime target for a renegade faction of The Fraternity .
(Warning: Rated M for mature. The storyline has VERY graphic language that is not suitable for younger players!)
Featuring a clever cover system that allows the player to move from cover point to cover point allows for some very interesting gameplay. Add the fact that much of the cover is movable and destructible and you get one the freshest action games on the market so far. With the ability to crouch behind cover and with the touch of a button move rapidly to next piece of cover (chain cover) this game will keep you entertained for days on end. Hitting the another button, however, pulls you out of cover and into “Assassin Time,” a slowing down time, allowing Wesley to assassinate enemies while they remain frozen. You can have Wes soar across the room, guns blasting, or he could slide across a table, taking out multiple thugs on either side. As Wes’s new found skills increase, the game encourages close, melee style combat to make for an even more exciting play.
Included favorites from the movie is the curved bullets ability. During game play you can curve a bullet around objects or corners to hit your target. You can determine the curved trajectory of your bullet so it can bend around columns and take out multiple enemies in a single shot, or use this skill to hit an explosive object and take out your enemy with a blast. Overall, Wanted is fun to play, well designed, and sure to be a cult hit.
