The X-Men game franchise continues with the X-Men Origins: Wolverine video game, based on the latest movie installment of the same name. Starting with the comic books and perpetuated by the big screen versions, the question of how Logan transformed from soldier to disturbed superhero has been a constant source of speculation for decades. Named after the most popular mutant in everyone’s favorite group of supermutant heroes, Origins takes you back to Logan’s beginnings, to the “birth” of Wolverine when the fury was first unleashed. Set before the X-men movies, the game tells the story of Wolverine’s origins from the time Logan was fighting alongside his former C.O. Stryker and nemesis Sabertooth, to his departure from the this unit and his personal quest for understanding and revenge.
The underlying theme for this soon-to-be-cult classic is the neverending search to discover the secrets of Weapon X. Along the way you’ll face some the meanest adversaries, including enormous 250 foot tall Sentinels, evil Leviathans, grotesque Wendigos, and some of the toughest bosses ever faced by Wolverine. Whether crashing through walls, soaring over bombed out bridges or free falling from 30,000 feet with no parachute, you’ll be able to behead, impale, and disembowel your enemies with a fury only possible from the adamantuim clawed mutant. Add in Wolverine’s animal like sense of smell and the ability to instantly heal from almost any wound in real-time and you’ll soon find that X-Men Origins: Wolverine is one the best movie tie-in games to come out in quite some time.
Featuring high quality graphics and gameplay, this game does have some slight flaws. Most evident is that too many of your major adversaries have the same exact weakness, meaning you will defeat them using the same exact methods. This tends to become a bit tedious after a while. Then we come to the storyline. With so many flashbacks and flashforwards the storyline can be confusing and hard to follow at times. But these shortcomings in no way take away from the gameplay. Overall this is a very fun game and well worth the money.
Available on Xbox360, PS3, PC, Wii, PSP, Nintendo DS, PS2

Wow, excellent game. Got it when it first came out and have already beaten it. Now after reading your review on UFC I’m going to trade wolverine in for it. thanks!

Both games are excellent and if you are finished with Wolverine, then I highly recommend UFC 2009.
