As the Caped Crusader, all you must do is deliver The Joker to Arkham Asylum, Gotham’s supermax psychiatric hospital for the criminally insane, housing all of the notorious super villains Batman has incarcerated. Of course things go terribly wrong and The Joker and the other Super Villains take over the mental hospital. And so begins the adventure touted as the best super hero video game ever made. Featuring all the bat gadgets made famous by the Dark Knight, the hunt begins to confuse and thwart your enemies while attempting to foil The Joker’s plan.
Finally getting a chance to play the full game, this Batman title definitely lives up to the critical acclaim. Featuring open world gameplay, you are able to explore every bit of the island. But don’t expect a free stroll on a beautiful Sunday morn. No, this is a dark, forbidding world fit for the loony bin and full of loitering henchmen to eliminate. Choose your method of attack from stealth attack from the shadows, swoop in from up above, or smash through walls to utilize a crushing hand-to-hand combat system integrated with FreeFlow combat system allowing for multiple combo chain moves. What Batman game would be complete without the famed utility belt with all the bat gadgets from the batarang, batclaw, line launcher, explosive gel aerosol, and so much more. And mini games allowing you to test your detective skills by solving intricate puzzles. Of course you will be able to use such bat tech items as pheromone tracker and x-ray scanning.
If you are a fan of super hero games or action games in general, this is the one game released this year that is absolutely must-have. Unlike previous Batman titles that have always disappointed, Arkham Asylum will have you glued to the game trying to discover what is behind the Joker’s intricate plot. In a year that has seen several very good super hero titles, Batman: Arkham Asylum is hands down the best in the genre to date.
