Starcraft II is expected to be the big hit in PC gaming this year with experts predicting sales of up to 8 million copies upon release. In fact, the real time strategy game considered to be one of the best ever has sold nearly 10 million copies since it first hit the scene in 1998. It’s a backbone on the professional gaming circuits. And now a lucky, select group of Starcraft fans will be invited to beta test the latest title to help developer, Blizzard, work out the bugs. In fact access codes for the invitation only beta test were issued free of charge through giveaways at a 2008 fan festival organized by Blizzard. Now comes news that some entrepreneurial fans are putting these access codes up for sale on auction sites. In fact many of these are pulling in up to $400. Seems a rather high price to pay for only a few months worth of playing time, considering that this may violate the terms of the beta test and that Blizzard retains the right to cancel any beta accounts it thinks may have been acquired inappropriately.
